Why do you put screws in the flat part of the metal not the ribs ?
Screws installed on the flat of the metal panel provide long-term resistance to the expected expansion and contraction within the ribs of the metal panel. The screw is also sunk an additional 0.75” in the strapping.Additionally, this method minimizes the risk of screws becoming loose over time and prevents over-tightening during installation, ensuring that the metal panels remain square and secure.
2 What is the thickness of the metal
Textured SMP Steel Panels = 26 gauge (before coatings) Smooth SMP Smooth Panels = 28 gauge (before coatings)
What does my warranty cover ?
The warranty covers that under normal atmospheric conditions, the paint film will remain free of cracks, blisters, flakes, fading or chalking or checking that is apparent on ordinary outdoor visual observations.
Is there a workmanship warranty?
Our workmanship warranty covers a period of 15 years from the installation date. It ensures that our work and installation meet the highest quality standard. If you encounter any issues related to our work during this period, we will address and rectify them at no additional cost to you.
How does living near the ocean affect my warranty?
Panels painted with SMP coatings that are within 1500 ft of the ocean may affect your warranty.
6 What’s the difference between textured and smooth finishes on the panels
The primary difference lies in the material thickness and surface finish. Our textured panels are crafted from a thicker, 26-gauge steel and feature a robust, tactile coating for added durability and a unique feel. In contrast, our smooth panels are made from a lighter, 28-gauge steel and are finished with a reflective, glossy coating for a sleek appearance.
Do you need to strap and roof for metal installation?
Yes, it is highly recommended. Not only does it make the roof easier to walk on during the installation process, it is also critical to providing proper air flow between the roof underlay and the roofing panels.
8. Do you recommend installing metal panels over shingles?
In most cases, we recommend installing metal over existing shingles to take advantage of additional vapor barrier, as well as the reduction of landfill waste and quicker installation time.
